Last weekend a small group of Airborn Team Athletes ventured into the Capital City of Canada to run Rideau Falls. We were pleasantly surprised to find the flow had doubled overnight, making for an impressive Inner City run. The young guns Cooper and Kalob laced up first and took the plunge like champs, Kalob breaking his paddle in the process.On the bench were Justin and I, we ran up to the bridge to get our stashed boats, then made our way down towards the second bridge, the one right above the drop. Phewww... we took a minute to catch our breath under the safety of the bridge, from here all we had to do was make the 10 M dash towards the dam, and not be seen. A tall order as there's a 4 Lane HWY behind you as you leave the safety of the bridge, with the NCC park on your right, Parliament Buildings off to your left somewhere, and the whole thing overlooked by two Government buildings...
In Billy's words, your a hero until you drop the 10 ft through the dam onto a rock shelf with only a few inches of water, and find yourself rocketing the last 2 or 3 feet towards a 40 footer.
